Annika Lundrigan - Epoch - Class of 2018

Annika was a part of Epoch's very first team back in 2013.  She, along with teammate Rilee Grau, were the only two players to be a part of Epoch's debut season, and then go on to be a part of the first ever graduating class.  Annika was the epitome of the phrase "utility player".  She was Epoch's best Swiss Army knife, as she could start at any position on the field... including pitcher if needed.  A solid middle infielder for the first part of her career, Annika eventually found a home in center field because her of strong arm and pin-point accuracy on throws to home.  Annika will return to British Columbia to continue both her education and softball career at Simon Fraser University.  We are extremely proud of her accomplishments and are excited to see what's in store for her future.

SFU Head Coach Mike Renney on Annika:

"I first saw Annika at a Canadian Junior National team try-out a couple years ago and this past summer, we had her attend a private try-out on campus where she impressed with her smooth infield play and line drive hitting abilities. She will bring some US competitive experience to our program along with the ability to play several infield positions."

A native of Carlsbad, CA, Annika Lundrigan joins Simon Fraser from Sage Creek High School. She was born in Vancouver and lived in Whistler for her first three years before moving to Southern California. The five-foot-seven middle infielder served as her team's co-captain for three years and was honoured with an Avocado West League softball second team selection in 2016.

Lundrigan is active in the community as she is part of her school's Link Crew leadership program, which helps freshmen adjust to life in high school. As well, she has been volunteering for SPOT (Saving Pets One at a Time) for four years. She plans on majoring in Business when she comes to SFU.

"I chose SFU because even though I loved growing up in California, I knew that I wanted to eventually move back to Canada," Lundrigan explained. "SFU is everything I want in a university –  from the athletics, to the academics, to the location. I think that it is such a positive community and I know that it is the place where I will be able to thrive and achieve all my goals."

“Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
